responsibilities:
- Lead diagnostic, retooling, and refurbishing efforts for complex, high-cavity plastic injection molds to extend tool life and optimize performance.
- Blend engineering design with traditional mold-maker bench elements; actively support toolroom activities and the physical implementation of tooling modifications, repairs, and upgrades.
- Utilize SolidWorks exclusively to design, modify, and develop tooling solutions, engineering changes, and specialized components.
- Evaluate production floor issues and collaborate with process, maintenance, and automation teams to troubleshoot process-related tooling issues, validate mold functionality, and establish optimal processing parameters.
- Conduct root cause analysis on tooling failures and implement robust corrective/preventive actions to reduce cycle times and scrap.
- BS in Engineering Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 3+ years of experience in plastic injection mold design, manufacturing, and refurbishment.
- understanding of process engineering as it relates to plastic injection molding and high-cavity tooling systems (up to 128 cavities).
- proficiency in SolidWorks (all design work is performed exclusively in SolidWorks).
- ability to interpret complex technical drawings and documentation.
