Our client is hiring a Project Manager to support and grow its Construction Materials Testing (CMT) operations in Chesapeake, VA. This role will lead CMT projects, coordinate field technicians and inspectors, manage client relationships, oversee project financials, and help drive the success of commercial, industrial, transportation, and public infrastructure projects throughout the Hampton Roads region.
The team is seeking a Staff Engineer, Project Engineer, or emerging Project Manager from a geotechnical or CMT consulting firm who is ready to take the next step into leadership. PE licensure is preferred but not required for the right candidate with CMT experience.

responsibilities:
- Lead Construction Materials Testing (CMT) operations, coordinating technicians, inspectors, laboratories, and project execution.
- Manage client relationships with contractors, municipalities, engineers, and project owners.
- Oversee project budgets, proposals, scheduling, invoicing, and financial performance.
- Ensure quality delivery of CMT and special inspection services in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians while supporting long-term department growth.
- 4-8+ years of Construction Materials Testing (CMT) experience within a consulting engineering firm.
- Experience leading projects, coordinating technicians, and managing client relationships.
- PE preferred but FE, EIT, PE-eligible candidates, or exceptional CMT professionals with leadership potential will also be considered.
