An Environmental Specialist is needed for a leading manufacturing organization. The Environmental Specialist will oversee environmental policy implementation and regulatory compliance across manufacturing and non-manufacturing facilities in California and Oregon. In this role, you will evaluate the environmental impact of engineering modifications, capital projects, and operational changes to ensure site compliance. You will serve as a key advisor to production engineering teams, guiding environmental strategies and permitting processes.
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in a science-related field such as Environmental Science, Biology, or Chemistry. Direct experience navigating complex California and West Coast environmental regulations is strongly preferred to manage strict regional compliance. Prior experience within the automotive manufacturing sector is also highly advantageous. This is a long-term contract, and our client is seeking local talent currently.

responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive environmental impact assessments (stormwater, wastewater, chemical, air) for proposed operational changes and capital projects
- Develop and execute strategic permitting plans to support facility modifications, equipment launches, and site expansions
- Prepare and submit official environmental permit applications on behalf of manufacturing and distribution facilities
- Continuously monitor evolving state and regional regulations-with an emphasis on California policy-to ensure ongoing site compliance
- Implement environmental management system (EEMS) standards and verify operational understanding among local site teams
- Provide direct feedback and technical guidance to production engineering groups regarding the environmental scope of proposed projects
