Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the patient financial process to ensure collection and proper processing of payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay amounts at the time of service.
- Verify all necessary patient information is complete and accurate, including demographics, referrals, authorizations, billing codes, and diagnosis details.
- Complete end-of-day reconciliation, ensuring patient schedules and payments are balanced within established timeframes.
- Provide general clerical support to the practice, including processing forms and maintaining organized records.
- Serve as a resource and orient new employees to department policies and procedures.
- Completion of a two-year Medical Office Management or Medical Secretary program, or equivalent experience in a physician’s medical office setting.
- Knowledge and skills to support patients across the lifespan, with an understanding of aging processes, human development, and cultural considerations in each step of patient care.
