Position Summary The Patient Service Representative plays a vital role in ensuring a positive experience for patients and supporting the financial and administrative functions of the practice. Reporting to the Practice Manager, this position is responsible for greeting patients, managing registration and check-in, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance and authorizations, processing payments, and ensuring accurate records.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the patient financial process to ensure collection and proper processing of payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay amounts at the time of service.
  
  
• Verify all necessary patient information is complete and accurate, including demographics, referrals, authorizations, billing codes, and diagnosis details.
  
  
• Complete end-of-day reconciliation, ensuring patient schedules and payments are balanced within established timeframes.
  
  
• Provide general clerical support to the practice, including processing forms and maintaining organized records.
  
  
• Serve as a resource and orient new employees to department policies and procedures.
  
  

Qualifications

• Completion of a two-year Medical Office Management or Medical Secretary program, or equivalent experience in a physician’s medical office setting.
  
  
• Knowledge and skills to support patients across the lifespan, with an understanding of aging processes, human development, and cultural considerations in each step of patient care.
