Responsibilities
- Prioritizes member/patient needs, develops and sustains productive relationships, actively seeks to understand circumstances, problems, expectations, and needs.
- Builds rapport and cooperative relationships with members/patients.
- Considers how actions or plans will affect members; responds quickly to meet member/patient needs and resolves problems.
- Operates a variety of software/database management tools for state and federal regulated release of medical information.
- Obtains and screens patient authorizations for correctness in accordance with standard policies and procedures.
- Provides information to patients, members, attorneys, government agencies, insurance agencies, and other healthcare facilities regarding organization policies and procedures, and state and federal laws governing release of information.
- Identifies types of medical information in the patient's chart to be flagged and copied per specifications, organizational policies, and in compliance with state and federal regulations such as HIPAA.
- Researches medical record numbers and member records, ensuring only specified medical information is released for the correct patient.
