Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain knowledge of benefit plan provisions, eligibility systems, claims systems, and the Reciprocity system (ERTS).
- Respond promptly and accurately to participant inquiries via phone, email, walk-ins, and correspondence.
- Explain claim payments/denials, verify eligibility and benefits, quote self-pay amounts, and resolve issues.
- Document all communications in the Customer Service module.
- Process enrollment forms, working spouse forms, disability claims, and other clerical tasks.
- Navigate and provide accurate information regarding the FMCP website.
- Monitor and manage calls via the call management system.
- Handle after-hours messages from the nightline.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required:
- 1+ years of experience in a medical billing or medical insurance call center environment, OR 1+ years of processing medical claims
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Typing speed of at least 40 WPM (typing assessment required)
- Dependable with consistent attendance
- Preferred:
- bilingual is a plus
- Previous TPA or major insurance carrier experience
- Ability to troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve participant/vendor issues collaboratively
