Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
As our PBX Operator, you'll be the first point of contact for many patients, visitors, and staff. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Communication Management: Operating a multi-line telephone switchboard to manage and direct incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls. You will courteously answer, route, and screen all calls, taking accurate messages and transferring calls as needed.
- Visitor & Patient Interaction: Greeting and assisting all visitors, vendors, and physicians, providing directions and explaining hospital policies like parking and visitation. You will also assist patients with phone calls and help relay messages to staff.
- Emergency Response: Paging for all emergency communications, including Code Blue, fire alerts, stat calls, and other emergency situations per hospital protocol. You'll also inform appropriate personnel of meetings, drills, and other hospital functions via the intercom.
- Information Management: Maintaining a comprehensive directory of hospital personnel and departments by name and extension number, as well as a log of patient names and room numbers to expedite calls.
- Front Desk Oversight: Monitoring the main hospital entrance and notifying the clinical manager of any issues with incoming emergency patients. You will also receive and relay disaster information to the proper personnel and departments.
