Our client is seeking is seeking Controller (3-6 month contract but possible extension) to design and implement a more robust inventory costing framework. The goal of this project is to build an accurate and actionable understanding of current product costs and establish a pathway to capturing labor and overhead. The ideal candidate must possess ** deep manufacturing cost accounting expertise** and the ability to translate financial principles into practical factory processes. HYBRID - 2-3 days in Baltimore office

salary: $45 - $70 per hour

Responsibilities

• Assess and diagnose the current cost accounting and inventory valuation structure within Aptean Ross.
• Document material and packaging cost flow and identify gaps in cost capture for labor, overhead, and absorption practices.
  
  
• Develop a baseline cost model that reconciles reported costs with actual plant economics.
  
  
• Define standards and partner cross-functionally to establish reliable cost center structures and allocation bases for labor and overhead.
• Recommend and document future-state processes and controls for capturing and capitalizing direct labor and manufacturing overhead.
• Define the ERP implementation roadmap and collaborate with Finance, IT, and Operations on configuration and data requirements.
• Develop financial reporting to validate cost accuracy and train teams on cost concepts, variance analysis, and the link between activity and financial results.
