Responsibilities
The Workers' Compensation Paralegal provides essential, high-quality legal and administrative support, focusing heavily on case management and documentation. Key duties include meticulous maintenance of electronic and paper client files, which involves continuous sorting, reviewing, and updating a large volume of records like medical records and employment data. The role demands strong knowledge of Rhode Island Workers' Compensation law and court procedures (with Massachusetts law preferred), preparation and filing of pleadings and discovery, and efficient scheduling of hearings, depositions, and meetings. The paralegal must also prepare trial and settlement materials, manage attorney calendars and deadlines, and proactively request supporting documents. Success requires excellent communication, organization, a high degree of reliability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while consistently meeting deadlines and anticipating attorney needs.
