The Opportunity: Own Compliance & Accuracy
You will be the expert in establishing and maintaining payroll tables, controlling pay rates and fringe benefit rates in strict accordance with various union agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Union Compliance: Interpret complex contracts and implement union rate and fringe changes.
- Reporting: Process monthly fringe benefit transmittals and payments to unions.
- Certified Payroll: Ensure timely and accurate Certified Payroll (online and paper) and Prevailing Wage reporting.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile monthly fringe accruals and payments against the General Ledger (GL), and correct variances.
- Systems: Set up new union job/fringe structures in Oracle and maintain reporting requirements in Access.
- Process improvements and vehicle taxability maintenance.
What You Bring:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years’ work experience with a union employer.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Technical Skills: Accounting, 10-key, and data entry skills. Proficiency in Excel and Access required. Oracle experience preferred.
- Attributes: Self-motivated, proactive team player with excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Union Management: Interpret union contracts, process rate and fringe changes, set up new union job/fringe structures in Oracle, and collaborate with trust funds on reporting requirements.
- Compliance & Reporting: Manage Prevailing Wage/Certified Payroll reporting, audits, and set-ups (both online and paper). Work with internal departments to correct and re-file certified payrolls as necessary. Comply with government statistical reporting and wage surveys.
- Special Projects: Implement and maintain union portability accruals, payments, and payroll deductions for out-of-area agreements.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement streamlined/automated processes.
- Documentation: Scan, index, and update union contract details in the imaging system.
- Misc. Payroll: Maintain company vehicle logs in the payroll master file, ensuring accurate employee taxability.
