About the Organization We are a prominent non-profit legal services organization committed to providing high-quality legal representation to those in need. We are seeking a dedicated Legal Secretary to provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to our attorneys.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar administrative role in a legal environment is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in legal terminology, document preparation, and e-filing procedures.
- strong organizational and time management skills with a high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain strict confidentiality.
- A commitment to the mission of a non-profit legal services organization is a plus.

Responsibilities
Document and Case Management
- Independently prepare and/or transcribe legal pleadings, documents, letters, and other materials as requested by case handlers.
- Utilize the pleading bank system to generate documents efficiently.
- Prepare the requisite number of copies for documents and case files.
- E-file pleadings accurately and timely.
- Assist assigned attorneys in maintaining case files and keeping them organized.
- Act as the primary point of contact among clients, judicial assistants, opposing counsel, and internal staff.
- Receive and screen visitors and telephone calls for assigned attorneys, taking messages as appropriate.
- Coordinate mediations and depositions with opposing counsel and other relevant parties.
- Assist assigned attorneys with maintaining their calendars and scheduling meetings, appointments, and court hearings.
- Assist other legal secretaries as needed, including providing coverage for their absence.
- To the extent possible after fulfilling primary duties, assist with a backlog of data entry or other general administrative work.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
