ROLE SUMMARY The ROI Generalist I ensures the accurate and HIPAA-compliant completion of Release of Information (ROI) requests. This role requires high attention to detail and a strong customer service focus while processing sensitive medical data.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- ROI Processing: Receive, validate, and process written requests for medical information.
- Compliance: Evaluate requests against HIPAA guidelines and facility policies to ensure legality and validity.
- Records Interpretation: Read and interpret medical records and authorizations to determine exactly which files must be released.
- Communication: Handle inbound/outbound calls regarding request status and provide instructions on how to obtain medical records.
- Efficiency: Meet daily productivity standards and maintain a smooth workflow using scanners, faxes, and specialized software.
- Experience: 2+ years in a medical office or related healthcare setting.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Skills: strong knowledge of Medical Terminology and HIPAA.
- Technical: Proficient with computers, general office equipment, and fast/accurate 10-Key data entry.
- Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, able to work under pressure, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Direct experience in Release of Information (ROI).
- RHIT Certification preferred
