- Subcontractor Relations: Maintain and expand the company’s database of qualified trade partners; follow up on "intent to bid" requests to ensure maximum coverage for every trade.
- Quantity Take-offs: Perform preliminary material and labor take-offs to assist senior estimators in establishing baseline budgets.
- Meeting Coordination: Organize and document pre-bid walkthroughs, site visits, and internal design-review meetings.
- Proposal Analysis: Assist in the leveling of subcontractor bids to ensure "apples-to-apples" comparisons and identify potential scope gaps.
- Database Maintenance: Keep historical cost data and unit pricing up to date to improve the accuracy of future conceptual estimates.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, or Procore) and advanced Excel skills.
- Organization: The ability to manage multiple bid deadlines simultaneously without losing track of the details.
- Communication: strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with subcontractors, architects, and internal project teams.
- Analytical Mindset: A natural curiosity for how buildings are put together and what they truly cost.
