Role Overview As the Payroll Processor, you will ensure that the hardworking field teams are paid accurately and on time. Given the nature of construction, you’ll handle unique variables like prevailing wage and multi-site hours.
- Location: San Jose, CA (On-site)
- Schedule: Monday – Thursday
- Shift: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM (16 hours/week)
- Employment Type: Part-Time / Contract-to-Hire
- Timecard Reconciliation: Review and verify daily hours submitted by field foremen and crews.
- Data Entry: Accurately input payroll data into the accounting system.
- Compliance: Assist in preparing certified payroll reports and ensuring adherence to California labor laws.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Identify and resolve any inconsistencies in reported hours or pay rates.
- Filing: Maintain organized digital and physical records of payroll transactions.
- Experience: 1–2 years of payroll experience (Construction industry experience is a major plus).
- Skills: Proficiency in Excel and exposure to payroll software (e.g., ADP, Foundation, or Sage).
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in data entry and math.
- Reliability: Since this is an evening shift, we need a self-starter who can work independently.

Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing: Manage end-to-end processing of weekly/bi-weekly/monthly payroll, including garnishments, benefits, and taxes.
- Data Validation: Review and reconcile payroll data against HR records to ensure accuracy in pay rates, job titles, and department allocations.
- Compliance: Maintain stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local tax laws; manage year-end reporting (W-2s, 1095-Cs, etc.).
- Record Keeping: Maintain digital and paper payroll records in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
- Issue Resolution: Act as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding paychecks, tax withholdings, and deductions.
- Reporting: Generate monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reports for the Finance and HR leadership teams.
