- Experience: * Minimum of 2–3 years of dedicated medical coding experience in Dermatology
- Technical Skills: * Proficiency with ModMed (Modernizing Medicine / EMA) software is highly preferred
- Knowledge Base: In-depth understanding of anatomy, medical terminology, NCCI bundling edits, and specific payer policies surrounding global surgical periods.
- Attributes: Exceptional analytical skills, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a revenue cycle team.

Responsibilities
- Specialized Coding: Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for comprehensive dermatology encounters, including general dermatology, cosmetics, and surgical procedures.
- Mohs Surgery a PLUS: Precisely code Mohs micrographic surgery stages, tissue blocks, and subsequent complex closures (flaps, grafts, and intermediate/complex repairs), ensuring accurate usage of add-on codes and modifiers.
- Software Utilization: Navigate the ModMed (EMA) platform to review documentation, audit system-generated suggested codes, and finalize claims efficiently.
- Documentation Review: Audit provider clinical notes and pathology reports to ensure documentation fully supports the level of service billed and conforms to NCCI edits and CMS guidelines.
- Denial Management & Appeals: Identify, analyze, and resolve claim rejections or denials related to coding; draft robust appeal letters when necessary to optimize practice revenue.
- Provider Collaboration: Act as a subject matter expert and trusted resource for clinicians, providing feedback and education on documentation clarity to minimize billing bottlenecks.
