Responsibilities
- Verify Eligibility: Confirm patient insurance coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums via web portals and direct phone calls with commercial and government payers.
- Secure Prior Authorizations: Submit, track, and obtain required pre-authorizations and referrals for scheduled procedures and specialist appointments to prevent claim denials.
- Data Integrity: Accurately enter and update demographic, billing, and insurance breakdown data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) / Practice Management system.
- Patient Communication: Clearly explain insurance benefits, estimated financial responsibilities, and pre-authorization statuses to patients in a professional, empathetic manner.
- Error Resolution: Identify and resolve discrepancies in insurance information, coordination of benefits (COB), or missing documentation prior to the date of service.
