Responsibilities
The Electrical Control Room Operator is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility’s electrical power distribution systems. This role develops and manages switching procedures, operating standards, emergency response plans, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational requirements. Additionally, the position supports incident response and root cause investigations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement switching procedures, step plans, and calculations for non-standard power distribution system configuration changes.
- Create, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational documentation to ensure quality and compliance.
- Manage and audit electrical room access to maintain safety and security requirements.
- Utilize statistical process control methods to optimize equipment reliability, alarm performance, and system trends.
- Lead and coordinate electrical operations, preventive maintenance, and switching activities performed by shift electricians.
- Monitor daily system performance to identify operational risks and prevent safety, quality, or production impacts.
- Develop expertise in control room systems and lead emergency response and system restoration efforts.
