Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Transcribe diagnostic imaging and ancillary orders received via fax, verify insurance eligibility, validate insurance authorizations, and enter appropriate ICD-10 codes to facilitate accurate patient scheduling and billing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transcribe incoming physician fax orders for ancillary exams (imaging, cardiology, MRI, PET scans, etc.).
- Enter accurate ICD-10 codes for scheduling and billing purposes.
- Perform medical necessity checks upon order entry.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required coverage authorizations.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1+ years of medical clerical/secretary experience, OR 1+ years as a Medical Assistant with order entry and insurance authorization experience.
- 1+ years of data entry or customer service experience.
- Passing score (80%+) on a Medical Terminology assessment test.
- Passing score on a typing test (35+ WPM) or data entry test (7,000+ KPH).
