Our client is seeking an experienced Designer to join their engineering team. This position is responsible for designing and developing custom automotive shipping racks used by OEM customers. The ideal candidate has strong Solidworks 3D modeling and design experience, understands automotive manufacturing and fabrication processes, and can translate customer requirements, drawings, and specifications into practical, production-ready designs. Previous experience with Siemens NX is a major asset, but not required.

Responsibilities

• This position is responsible for designing and developing custom automotive shipping racks used by OEM customers.
• Interpret OEM customer drawings, specifications, CAD data, and packaging requirements. 
• Develop accurate manufacturing drawings including dimensions, tolerances, weld symbols, materials, and finishing requirements. 
• Work with engineering, manufacturing, welding, purchasing, and production teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective to manufacture.
• Incorporate customer-specific requirements and ensure designs meet OEM standards and specifications. 
• Participate in design reviews and resolve design or manufacturing issues.
• Support prototype development, testing, and production launch. 
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and revision control.
