Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

The job is fast-paced and requires a high level of attention to detail to ensure the final product—whether it’s sports turf or residential carpet—is free of defects.

• Loading and Threading: Placing large spools (cones) of yarn onto "creel" racks and threading the yarn through a series of guides, tubes, and needles.
  
  
• Splicing and Tying: Connecting the end of a nearly empty spool to the beginning of a new one using air-splicers or manual knots to ensure a continuous flow of yarn.
  
  
• Quality Control: Constantly monitoring the yarn for breaks, tangles, or "slubs" (irregularities). If a thread breaks, the creeler must quickly re-thread it to prevent gaps in the turf.
  
  
• Organization: Arranging yarn according to specific color patterns or "maps" provided by the machine operator to ensure the turf design is correct.
  
  
• Housekeeping: Removing empty cardboard cones, cleaning lint/dust from the creel area, and maintaining a trip-free workspace.
  
  

The essential functions of this role include:

working in a smoke free environment

working in a non-temperature controlled environment

working up to 10 hrs of overtime per week

Skills

Creeler (1 year of experience is required)

Threading (1 year of experience is preferred)

Splicing

Quality Control (1 year of experience is preferred)

Machine Operator (1 year of experience is required)
