Responsibilities
- Inspect initial production run (first piece) to ensure it meets all customer specifications, drawings, and quality standards before full production begins.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to verify dimensional and visual compliance.
- Use precision measuring tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM) to perform detailed inspections.
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate records of first-piece approvals or rejections.
- Communicate with production personnel, engineers, and supervisors to resolve discrepancies or quality issues.
- Approve or reject first articles based on inspection criteria, and ensure rejected pieces are properly tagged and isolated.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for first-piece failures.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards (e.g., ISO, AS9100, customer-specific requirements).
- Assist in training operators or production staff on quality requirements related to first-piece inspections.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of inspection area and tools.
