Responsibilities
- Machine Setup & Operation: Perform setup on cut-off saws, including determining material type and part length from blueprints, setting stops, using hand tools to cut parts to required lengths, and operating machines to saw parts accurately.
- Precision Measurement: Use precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, hook rule scales, and squares, to inspect parts and hold tight tolerances of + or - .005" on cut parts.
- Quality Control & Layout: Perform quality checks on parts as required. Conduct part layout on aluminum plates using blueprints, tape measures, scribes, and other layout tools. Scribe periphery of parts and saw on bandsaw according to scribe lines.
- Maintenance & Fluid Management: Maintain hydraulic and coolant fluid levels in saws, change saw blades as needed, and clean filters to ensure smooth machine operation.
- 5S & Safety Compliance: Follow 5S principles to keep work areas clean and organized, and adhere to all ISO procedures and safety protocols.
- Material Handling & Preparation: Use daily dispatch reports and blueprints to locate and collect parts. Prepare parts for paint by masking, plugging holes, and inspecting for quality before finishing.
- Final Inspection & Packaging: Inspect parts visually for defects, including scratches, rust, and improper masking. After painting, check for paint defects like runs or "fish eyes" and protect parts with foam, paper, or other materials before placing on carts or racks.
