Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mold Maker to manage and execute the repair, modification, and construction of tooling and molds. This hands-on role involves operating various machining equipment and overseeing multiple tool and die projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate will bring a technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain tight tolerances in a fast-paced machine shop environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as project lead for mold/tool builds and repairs
- Interpret models, blueprints, and technical drawings to guide construction and modifications
- Perform precision machining using lathes, mills, grinders, and other shop tools
- Maintain specified tolerances throughout all stages of tool fabrication
- Use precision measuring instruments to verify alignments, dimensions, and clearances
- Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines and ensure tool quality
- Maintain detailed records and communicate progress with internal stakeholders
- Technical aptitude with analytical problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team setting
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency with manual and CNC machining equipment
- Familiarity with tool design, shop mathematics, and metal properties
- Ability to interpret blueprints and maintain high-precision tolerances
- Understanding of EDM principles and capabilities
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a Tool & Die apprenticeship or formal trades training preferred
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a machine shop or tool and die environment
- Experience operating CNC lathes, mills, manual machines, and related shop tools
- Indoor, climate-controlled manufacturing facility
- Must be able to remain stationary ~50% of the time and move throughout the shop as needed
- Regular communication with team members and leadership
- Occasional travel (domestic or international) may be required
