manufacturing manager.

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Manager for a company in Farmington, CT. The ideal candidate will be someone with some managerial experience in a manufacturing environment. This person will be in charge/responsible for the overall supervision of the manufacturing floor. This person will also be responsible for working directly with outside vendors and determining what parts of jobs will be done in house and what parts will be outsourced. Along with personnel and processing duties, this person must have solid manufacturing experience and understanding of toolmaking, machining, and general production work. 

salary: $100,000 - $120,000 per year

Responsibilities

• Handles overall supervision of the manufacturing floor with the exception of Electrical Fabrication area.
• Handles PTO and salary issues for all employees on the manufacturing floor with the exception of Electrical
• Receives print package from Mechanical Engineering.
• Reviews all prints, and separates them as details to be made in-house versus details to be outsourced (whole or in-part).
• Solicits quotes from various vendors for details to be outsourced (we have a stable of typical vendors).
• Generates PO’s in PKI for outsource vendors, and is the primary vendor contact for questions on details.
• Targets our manufacturing costs to be 30% of the total order value or less.
• Attempts to balance our outsource work with our vendors, i.e. tries not to overload any one vendor.
• Coordinates details through heat treat to outsource grind, outsource plate, and back to outsource grind.
• Receives parts from vendors, checks them in, and moves them to the Assembly rack if complete, or moves them to next operations (internal or external) if only supplied partially complete.
• Is often the primary person responsible for facilities maintenance (fork lift, air conditioning, air compressor, Torit exhaust system, machine tool maintenance and service, Leibert HVAC maintenance and service).
