In this independent role, you'll be the expert who creates the full manufacturing plan for tools and parts using software like MasterCAM and SmartCAM. You'll need to read complex blueprints (even for older designs) and use math skills to develop the programs. The job involves maintaining the program library, fixing machine problems, keeping the software postprocessors up-to-date, and occasionally operating the machines for setup checks.

Responsibilities
- Independently develop the full manufacturing process to produce tooling, fixtures, gauges, or parts, including the use of MasterCAM and SmartCAM software.
- Read and interpret blueprints for older designs (often without solid models) and apply math skills in geometry and trigonometry to execute the work.
- Set up and operate 3- and 4-axis milling centers (experience with 5-axis is a plus) for part manufacture, and use common measuring tools to ensure the quality of all machined parts.
- Supervise and maintain the master CNC program directory, ensuring the validity of all programs, and maintaining/modifying postprocessors for shop floor equipment.
- Capable of recognizing and correcting malfunctions of machine tools or set-ups to maintain operational efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with machinists and foremen to provide the necessary support for their requirements.
