Responsibilities
Minimum Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as a manual machinist or toolmaker.
- Expansive understanding of machining principles, materials, and tolerances.
- Skilled in shop math, blueprint reading, and GD&T.
- Proficient in the use of precision measurement tools.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and great attention to detail.
- Set up and operate manual machines including lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, honing and broaching machines.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements.
- Fabricate, modify, or repair parts to specified dimensions using appropriate machining methods.
- Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators) to verify accuracy of work.
- Select, mount, and adjust cutting tools and fixtures for efficient machining.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust processes to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts produced.
- Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Must be adaptable to change and adjust to new requirements in a custom build environment.
- Ability to hold tight machining tolerances.
- Advanced mathematical skills.
