Responsibilities
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI): Execute full and detailed dimensional, visual, and functional inspections of initial production samples according to customer blueprints, CAD models, and quality standards (e.g., AS9102, PPAP formats).
- Measurement and Metrology: Utilize a wide variety of precision measuring instruments, including, but not limited to:
- Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)
- Vision systems and optical comparators
- Calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges
- Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)
- Document and Report: Accurately record all inspection results, comparing measured values against nominal dimensions and specified tolerances. Generate and maintain comprehensive First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and associated documentation.
- Blueprint and Specification Interpretation: Read, interpret, and work from complex engineering drawings, including a thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Non-Conformance Management: Identify and clearly document all non-conforming features, escalating issues to Quality Engineers and Tooling/Process Technicians for immediate correction.
- Process Validation: Verify that all required materials, tools, and processes (e.g., molding parameters, secondary operations) are correctly set up and capable of repeatedly producing compliant parts.
- Material Verification: Confirm material certifications and lot traceability align with drawing requirements.
