Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily activities of the sanitation department, including the management of supervisors and sanitation technicians.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) for the entire facility.
- Create and update Standard Sanitary Operating Procedures (SSOPs) for all production machinery and facility areas.
- Ensure full compliance with FDA, USDA, FSMA, and local health department regulations.
- Lead and manage the facility through third-party food safety audits such as SQF, BRC, or AIB.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and environmental testing, including ATP swabbing and microbiological sampling.
- Manage the department budget, including labor, chemical procurement, and equipment repairs.
- Oversee the safe storage, handling, and titration of cleaning chemicals.
- Partner with the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) provider to ensure a pest-free environment.
- Coordinate with Production and Maintenance teams to schedule cleaning windows that minimize operational downtime.
- Provide ongoing training to staff regarding chemical safety, GMPs, and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Investigate sanitation-related deviations and implement effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
