Position Overview:
This individual is responsible for planning, designing, constructing or repairing a variety of tools, dies, jigs, gauges, and fixtures to tight tolerances. Does highly skilled fitting, adjusting and timing. Performs tool room machine operation and tool repair and maintenance.
salary: $75,000 - $95,000 per year

Responsibilities
- Following company standard layout practices, makes layout design from blueprints, tooling and makes parts for customer specifications.
- Checks for layout accuracy from quoted job.
- Plans the setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools, considering types of material, tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, and machine tool feeds and speeds.
- Obtains correct steel and prepares material by using milling, drilling, tapping and grinding.
- Prepares materials for electrical discharge machine.
- Sets up, runs off, and tests dies to produce a product to specifications, tracing die difficulties to their source and correcting same.
- Develops new form tools to assure part accuracy to print.
- Line-up tooling, mounting into plates/die sets.
- Responsible for tool maintenance by sharpening, repairing, etc.
