Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Machining & Training
Learn & Operate: Receive 1-on-1 training on the Bridgeport Manual Lathe to cut, shape, and drill metal parts.
- Precision Work: Learn to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers) to ensure parts meet exact specs.
- Safety First: Maintain a clean and safe workspace, following all shop safety protocols and wearing appropriate PPE.
- Shop Maintenance: Perform "porter" work, including sweeping floors, wiping down machines, and cleaning oil spills.
- Material Handling: Organize raw materials and help move heavy metal stock or finished parts across the shop floor.
- Waste Management: Empty metal chip bins and ensure scrap materials are disposed of properly.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Experience working with your hands (auto repair, carpentry, home DIY, or similar hobbies).
- Math Skills: Must be comfortable with basic math, fractions, and reading decimals (e.g., .001").
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stay on your feet for an 8-hour shift and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Reliability: You must have a dependable way to get to our Freeport location by 8:00 AM sharp every day.
- Attitude: A "no task is too small" mindset—you are willing to sweep the floor just as happily as you operate the machine.
