Role Summary:
Randstad USA is hiring a full-time Process Technician to join a leading plastics manufacturing team in Hanover Park. This role is responsible for maintaining stable processes, optimizing cycle times, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring molded parts consistently meet quality specifications.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with injection molding machines, automation systems, molds, and auxiliary equipment, and can respond quickly to alarms or process deviations to keep production running safely and efficiently.
Safety is a top priority in this role. Technicians must follow all procedures, avoid shortcuts, and ensure machines are operating within safe and controlled parameters.
️ Required Skills & Knowledge:
- 2+ years of hands-on injection molding experience
- strong understanding of molding processes and cycle optimization
- Ability to troubleshoot molding machines, tooling, automation, and auxiliary equipment
- Knowledge of plastic molding resins and material behavior
- Experience working with robots, dryers, blenders, chillers, and other auxiliary equipment
- Understanding of mold temperature control and process adjustments
- Knowledge of hot runner systems, temperature controllers, and high cavitation molds
- Experience with fast cycle production environments
- Ability to respond quickly to alarms and maintain machines operating within specification
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions and schematics
- strong computer skills and ability to document shift activity electronically
- SAP or ERP experience preferred
- strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for 12-hour shifts
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with stack molds and high-cavitation tooling
- Experience supporting engineering process improvements or validations
- Root cause analysis and process documentation experience
- Experience in high-volume automated plastics manufacturing

Responsibilities
- Maintain production runs at standard cycle times and document any deviations or cavitation changes
- Develop and maintain molding processes that consistently produce quality parts within specification
- Troubleshoot molding machines, automation systems, molds (tooling), and auxiliary equipment
- Respond quickly to machine alarms and process issues to maintain production uptime
- Adjust processing parameters when necessary to maintain part quality and process stability
- Operate and monitor injection molding equipment and automated cells
- Perform quality checks and visual inspections on molded parts
- Maintain machines running efficiently while ensuring parts remain within specification
- Accurately document shift output, equipment downtime, alarms, and production activity
- Report shift activity and process data using SAP or applicable ERP systems
- Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to ensure seamless shift transitions
- Collaborate with Engineering on new product launches, process improvements, and troubleshooting
- Assist with writing or updating work instructions, BOMs, and training documentation
- Support transition of prototypes or new products into production
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
