Randstad has partnered with a premier distribution leader in Charlotte to find a versatile, team-oriented logistics professional. This is not a traditional "drop-and-hook" or "steer-and-gear" driving job. We are looking for a hybrid professional who is equally dedicated to warehouse operations and local commercial driving. If you are looking to split your time between the warehouse floor and the local roads, or want to master an operation from the ground up, this is your opportunity.
The Reality of the Role: Expectations & Shift Splits This position requires a high level of physical activity and operational flexibility. Depending on immediate business demands and upcoming fleet expansions, your role will function in one of two ways:
The Warehouse-to-Fleet Transition (100% Warehouse Initially): You will spend your first 3 to 6 months fully on the warehouse floor. This period is critical for mastering our inventory, learning the product lines, and understanding our order fulfillment process. Once you are fully proficient and our new fleet assets arrive, you will transition into your dual driving duties.
The Hybrid Schedule (80/20 Split): Once active in the fleet, your typical week will be an 80/20 split. Eighty percent of your time will be spent executing local deliveries (home daily), and twenty percent will be spent directly on the floor assisting with warehouse operations.
Crucial Note: On any given day, if delivery volume is low, you will be expected to work a full shift in the warehouse. There is zero down-time; this is a highly active, hands-on role.
Local Driving & Delivery:
- Fleet Operations: Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle to execute local multi-stop delivery routes around the greater Charlotte metro area.
- Pre/Post-Trip Inspections: Maintain strict compliance with DOT regulations, ensuring vehicle safety logs are accurately completed daily.
- Licensing: Must possess an active, valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL A) with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Medical: Current, valid DOT Medical Card. Experience: Experience with local delivery or industrial warehouse environments is highly preferred. Forklift experience is a plus but not a hard stop.
salary: $60,000 - $72,000 per year
shift: First
work hours: 7 AM - 4 PM
education: High School
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do (Detailed Responsibilities):
Warehouse & Material Handling (Heavy Focus):
- Order Picking & Packing: Use paper pick sheets or RF scanners to accurately locate, pull, and pack industrial products for shipment.
- Inbound & Outbound Freight: Unload incoming manufacturer shipments and stage them efficiently in designated warehouse bays.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate material handling equipment, including sit-down forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and hand trucks. (Prior forklift experience is a major bonus, but we will train and certify a motivated driver).
- General Labor: Keep a clean, organized warehouse environment. This includes breaking down pallets, wrapping loads, and general housekeeping tasks.
