Responsibilities
As the QA/QC Manager, you will take full ownership of the quality management system to ensure complete compliance with AISC certification, AWS welding codes, and customer requirements. Your primary duties will include:
- Compliance & Audits: Administer the Quality Management System in accordance with AISC standards and AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code; prepare for and lead all annual AISC audits and customer inspections.
- Welding Quality & Documentation: Manage all welding quality activities, including maintaining WPS/PQR documentation, overseeing welder qualifications, tracking weld inspections, and handling non-conformance reporting.
- Inspections & Testing: Oversee incoming materials, in-process fabrication, and final products; review shop drawings and coordinate third-party testing and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with project management, detailing, and production teams to swiftly resolve quality issues and maintain material traceability throughout the fabrication process.
- Continuous Improvement & Leadership: Lead initiatives to improve fabrication quality and efficiency, and train shop personnel on quality standards and inspection methods.
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of dedicated QA/QC experience specifically within structural steel fabrication.
- Certification: Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) designation is required.
- Ultrasonic Testing experience is a plus
