In this role, you will manage machine start-ups, troubleshoot complex process variances, and interface with state-of-the-art robotics. If you have a deep understanding of plastics behavior and a sharp eye for continuous improvement, we want you on our team.
What You’ll Do:
- Optimize Production: Ensure all injection molding machines, robots, thermolators, and secondary equipment are dialed in and running at peak efficiency.
- Rapid Troubleshooting: Act as the first responder to equipment and robot alarms. Diagnose and resolve machine, mold, and material defects on the fly.
- Machine Start-Ups & Die Changes: Execution of precise machine start-ups and assist with die change activities to ensure smooth production transitions.
- Quality & Compliance: Accurately complete process verification tracking, tool reports, and mistake-proofing checksheets.
- Equipment Care: Maintain control stations (Robot controls, DME units, thermolators) and ensure proper management and disposal of all purgings.
- Safety Culture: Strictly adhere to OSHA regulations, maintain a clean workspace, and ensure zero loose clothing is worn near moving mechanical parts.
- The Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on plastics processing experience within a plastic injection molding environment. Have less but think you're the right person for the job? Let's talk. We are open to less experienced candidates with a background in plastics.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Proven expertise in mold setups, scientific molding concepts, and diagnosing complex maintenance or material issues.
- Advanced Controls: Solid familiarity with modern, state-of-the-art controls on injection molding machines and integrated robotics.
- The Skills: Ability to interpret technical diagrams, perform basic production mathematics, and clearly communicate issues to supervisors and floor teams.
- Physical Capability: Ability to stand for long periods, work in a dynamic manufacturing environment, and lift/move up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for machine start-ups.
- First response to all machine, robot, thermolater and secondary equipment alarms.
- Ensure machines and robots are running at optimum efficiency.
- Troubleshoot machine, mold and material problems.
- Report to Production Supervisor any difficulties or problems requiring special attention.
- Responsible for the accurate completion of Process Verification, Tool Reports and Mistakeproofing Checksheets as required.
- Responsible for all die change activities not done by a Die Setter.
- Responsible for maintaining the appearance of all Thermolaters, Robot Control Stations, DME units etc.
- Ensures proper care of all equipment especially the managing and proper disposal of all purgings.
- Responsible for continuous improvement (ideas and suggestions).
- Responsible to follow all OSHA and safety rules and regulations.
- Responsible for following all USF policies and procedures.
Education and/or Experience
- Plastic Injection molding background with a minimum of three years experience in plastics processing.
- Must be experienced in mold set-ups, troubleshooting, and exposure to maintenance problems.
- Must be familiar with state-of-the-art controls on machines and robots.
