This is not an engine-building role. This position focuses on the chassis, hydraulics, and safety systems that keep our operation moving. You will be the primary owner of fleet uptime, responsible for everything from Federal DOT brake inspections to custom hydraulic cylinder resealing. We have an in-house lathe and welding equipment, and we expect you to have the skills to use them.
Required Qualifications & Tools
- The "Heavy" Tool Kit: You must provide your own tools. Your kit must include a heavy-duty range (at least 7-inch capacity sockets/wrenches/calipers) suitable for large-bore hydraulic glands and heavy truck chassis work.
- Diesel Experience: Proven experience maintaining Class 8 vocational trucks (Mack, Freightliner, or Western Star preferred).
- Material Handling Experience: Familiarity with Toyota propane (LPG) forklifts and their specific hydraulic/fuel systems.
- Machinist/Fabricator Mindset: Proficiency with a manual lathe and welding equipment (MIG/Stick) to solve mechanical problems in-house.
- Resourcefulness: A track record of "fixing it right" without needing a manual for every turn of the wrench.
- Ability to handle heavy components safely.
- Comfortable working in an active shop environment across both heavy-duty and small-frame equipment.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Preventative Maintenance: Full PM ownership for 10 Class 8 trucks and 20 propane forklifts.
- Brake & Chassis: Expert-level troubleshooting and replacement of air brake systems, wheel ends, and suspension components.
- Hydraulics: Remove, teardown, and replace seals in hydraulic cylinders; fabricate and install high-pressure hoses.
- Resourceful Repair: Utilize an in-house lathe and welding equipment to repair or fabricate parts that are otherwise unavailable or backordered.
- 12V Electrical: Diagnose and repair lighting, starting, and basic sensor issues across the fleet.
