Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Programming & Optimization: Develop, edit, and optimize 2D and 3D machining programs using Mastercam for multi-axis CNC machines (Mills, Lathes, or Mill-Turns).
- Blueprint Analysis: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols, and job specifications.
- Process Planning: Determine the most efficient machining sequences, tool selections, feed rates, and spindle speeds for a variety of materials (e.g., aluminum, steel, titanium, plastics).
- Fixture Design: Design workholding and fixtures to ensure secure and repeatable part manufacturing.
- First-Article Inspection: Collaborate with machinists during the setup and "dry run" of new programs, troubleshooting errors and proving out programs safely.
- Continuous Improvement: Cycle-test existing programs to reduce run times, extend tool life, and improve part quality.
Required:
- Experience: 3+ years of professional CNC programming experience using Mastercam.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of G-code and M-code editing.
- GD&T Proficiency: background in reading blueprints and applying GD&T standards.
- Tooling Expertise: Solid knowledge of cutting tool geometries, coatings, and appropriate feeds/speeds for diverse materials.
- Problem Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills on the shop floor during setup and initial runs.
