The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent tape measure reading skills, and experience operating power tools safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Measure & Prepare Materials: Read and interpret daily production work orders, cut sheets, and custom specifications. Accurately measure blind blocks down to 1/16" (or 1/32") using manual or digital measuring tools.
- Saw Operation: Safely operate dual-mitre or manual chop saws to cut valances, headrails, bottom rails, and slat blocks to exact target lengths.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect cut materials for precision, clean edges, straightness, and lack of burrs or chipping. Reject defective stock before it moves down the assembly line.
- Machine Maintenance: Perform routine daily maintenance on tools, including clearing dust and debris, checking blade sharpness, and assisting with blade changes.
- Safety & Cleanliness: Strictly follow all OSHA safety regulations and company safety standards, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
- Material Handling: Move, stack, and stage uncut blind stock and finished cut pieces efficiently to keep the production workflow smooth.
