Key Responsibilities
- Precision Welding: Perform clean, leak-tight GTAW/TIG welds on various metals (stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel) to meet exact specifications.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical drawings, AWS weld symbols, and project specifications to determine joint design and proper weld sequences.
- Equipment & Joint Setup: Select tungsten types, regulate shielding gas flow, calibrate machine amperage, and prepare/clean base metals to prevent weld contamination.
- Quality Inspection: Inspect finished welds for surface defects (porosity, undercut, cracking) and ensure compliance with strict tolerance standards.
- Fit-Up & Fixturing: Clamp, position, and tack-weld components using jigs and custom fixtures to control heat distortion and maintain proper alignment.
- Safety & Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance on welding equipment, dress tungsten electrodes, and strictly adhere to shop safety protocols and PPE requirements.
- Experience with Laser Welding is a HUGE plus!
- Proven experience as a TIG Welder working with stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel.
- Ability to read and work directly from complex blueprints and welding symbols.
- High attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift, clamp, and position heavy metal components as needed.
