Performs diagnostic imaging at the direction of physician protocol. Provides compassionate age-specific care to patients from neonates through geriatrics.
Duties:
- Adheres to hospital safety standards.
- Adheres to ALARA, Image Gently and Image Wisely standards.
- Adheres to all radiation and fluoroscopic safety standards.
- Consistently follows hospital and department guidelines for patient identification and safety.
- Consistently follows hospital and department SOPs, policies and protocols.
- Demonstrates successful patient/technical imaging skills by producing a variety of radiological procedures while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
- Provides age-specific care to patients from neonates through geriatrics.
- Able to perform all applicable equipment Quality Control.
- Accurately records all requested database/log records.
- Displays a commitment to hospital Mission and Core Values.
- Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws (HIPAA) and facility policies.
- Maintains licensure and continuing education requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Effectively follows directions to maintain compliance with State and Federal Agencies.
- Effectively follows directions to maintain department readiness based on DNV standards.
- Proficient at instructing students and new staff after 1 year of experience.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work independently.
- Uses administrative skills to contribute to the successful operation of the department by entering and completing correct billing codes in the RIS.
- Provides training, mentorships and preceptorships to current and new technologists and students within modality.
- Collaborates effectively with co-workers and staff to ensure that assignments are completed in a professional and effective manner.
- Participate in regulatory activities as needed.
- Contributes to the safe, efficient and successful operations of the department through effective communication.
- Effectively communicates with ordering providers and/or radiologists to properly protocols patient studies.
- Ensures all equipment is functioning and demonstrates ability to initiate service repair process.
- Maintains a responsibility for self-development with support for the learning environment of the hospital and department of radiology.
- Able to effectively implement new and existing protocols and standards into the daily workflow while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
- Assists in preparing and maintaining all applicable equipment Quality Control, database records and/or logs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
Education Qualifications
- Associate's Degree Completion of an accredited 2-year program in a school of Radiologic Technology with appropriate Certification. (Required)
Experience Qualifications
- 2+ years Registered x-ray technologist with 2-5 years' experience. (Required)
- Proficient at instructing students and new staff. (Required)
- Excellent knowledge of modality specific equipment, computers, PACS, EMR and RIS. (Required)
- Must demonstrate ability to work independently. (Required)
- Excellent knowledge of imaging and exam protocols. (Required)
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise. (Required)
- Experience and ability to work in all areas of general radiology, including fluoroscopy and OR. (Required)
Skills and Abilities
- Uses a variety of equipment specific to the area, including C-arms, portables and various computers. (Required proficiency)
- Clear knowledge of x-ray equipment (digital/analog), image printers, computers, PACS and radiology information system. (Required proficiency)
- Must demonstrate effective organizational, written and oral communication skills and excellent customer service skills. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to work in all areas of general radiology. (Required proficiency)
- Assist Team Lead, as needed. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Technologist Radiography (ARRT-R) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Required) and
- Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT:R) Ohio Department of Health (Required Upon Hire) and
- Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)
