Position Overview:
The Intermediate Consultant IT/Digital Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing complex projects at Ameren. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, project management expertise, and strong leadership skills to drive successful outcomes in our digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Execution:
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of assigned IT/Digital projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
- Manage IT application development projects, including software development, integrations, databases, and third-party vendor implementations.
- Set expectations, review work, and provide real-time feedback to team members.
- Work closely with the Agile Project Management Office (APMO) and Vendor Management Office (VMO) to ensure project alignment and compliance.
Stakeholder Management:
- Manage business partner relationships and lead discussions at the Manager / Senior Manager level (occasionally at Director-level and above).
- Develop and maintain relationships with business partners and other Digital teams.
- Create and deliver presentations for stakeholders, effectively communicating project status, risks, and outcomes.
Strategy and Planning:
- Contribute to the creation and oversight of team strategy & roadmap, including prioritization of key focus areas, initiatives, and projects.
- Participate in staffing, capacity, and resource planning to ensure optimal team performance.
Risk and Quality Management:
- Identify when to raise awareness and/or escalate issues to senior leadership.
- Ensure accountability for audit, control, and release management processes.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- 3 to 7 years' experience managing IT application development projects, including software development, integrations, databases, and third-party vendor implementations.
- 3 to 5 years of Project Management experience in larger organizations using structured Project Management principles, practices, and tools.
Education:
- Degree preferred but not required.
- PMP certification preferred but not required.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong, demonstrated leadership and emotional intelligence skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Project.
- Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (Jira, MS Project).
- Understanding of IT infrastructure, software development lifecycles, and digital transformation concepts.

- Manager is looking for this person to take the IT foundational and support projects over. Need to get up to speed quickly with little hand holding.
- Will provide training and coaching for the first month or two.
- Mature customer base as they work in direct support with Ameren Digital Strategy and QA. Big part of support of testing center of excellence.
- Open to fully remote candidates outside of STL. Preference is that they are local. For big meetings or speaking with directors or above, expect to be in the office.
- Will report directly into Miles. Will work with senior level managers and product owners on a few different teams.
- These are long standing projects that will continue through transformation.
- Must Haves:
o History of delivering results.
o Excellent soft skills, foster collaborations.
o Some of the work and partners are going to change. Familiar with working through change.
o Jira is more important that MS Project. Does not want to do a crash course on MS Project.
o Pushing teams to identify value.
o Managing risk.
o Working knowledge of Agile methodologies.
- Nice to Haves:
o IT experience.
o Enterprise architecture with testing.
o Enterprise integration experience (MuleSoft/API work)
- Looking for a true IT Project Manager (not a Construction PM, for example).
- 40 hours per week. May work OT on occasion. If so, it would be an additional 5 hours per month.
- Core Hours: 9am-3pm CST. Ideally would like someone to be able to work 8am-4pm CST.
- No driving. No travel.
- Needs someone ASAP. Would like someone in the role before October 31st.
