Looking for a worker to be in Austin, TX. Onsite 3-4 days a week.
Seeking a Mainframe Developer, with 10+ years of development experience, to implement and test changes to mission critical COBOL/DB2 applications. The role works in an Agile/Scrum team, collaborates with internal teams, and uses JIRA/Confluence for work tracking and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Implement code changes to COBOL programs, copybooks, JCL, and DB2 stored procedures.
Unit test all code changes and additions (COBOL, copybooks, JCL, DB2 SPs).
Support QA during integration and regression testing; reproduce and help diagnose defects.
Participate in Scrum ceremonies, including daily standups.
Coordinate with Schwab internal teams to validate dependencies and integrations.
Work with external vendors where necessary to test and validate dependencies.
Document changes and testing results in Confluence; manage tasks and defects in JIRA.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong COBOL development experience.
Practical knowledge of DB2 (including stored procedures).
JCL and z/OS/MVS operational experience.
Experience performing unit testing for mainframe artifacts.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices and participation in team ceremonies.
Experience using JIRA and Confluence for work management and documentation.
Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross team interactions.
Preferred
Experience with ChangeMan or other mainframe change/release tools.
Familiarity with VSAM, IMS, or other mainframe databases.
Exposure to mainframe debugging and performance tools.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
