We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Azure Security Engineer to join the FTPS program, a high-value asset for the federal government that processes billions of dollars and supports millions of citizens. This is a hands-on technical role within an Agile environment where you will spend approximately 80% of your time building, deploying, and integrating security capabilities. You will be part of a collaborative team of five engineers focused on securing a mission-critical Azure Government Community Cloud (GCC) environment. The successful candidate must be able to pass a federal background check (C2/C6 level) and demonstrate current expertise in modern Microsoft security branding and tooling. Location: Marietta, GA (On-site 5 days a week); Remote options available for candidates outside a 50-mile radius of major hubs (Omaha, Denver, Berkeley Heights/NJ, Atlanta)

responsibilities:
Systems Engineering: Spend 80% of your time building, deploying, and integrating application systems, infrastructure security, and capabilities within the cloud.
Security Platform Management: Set up, configure, and manage end-to-end security for Azure Cloud regions, including the implementation of Zero-Trust models and Defense-in-Depth strategies.
Identity & Access Management: Manage Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Multi-tenant Organizations (MTO), and conditional access policies.
Threat & Vulnerability Management: Conduct threat analysis and vulnerability testing specifically related to Azure systems.
Monitoring & Incident Response: Utilize Microsoft Defender XDR and Sentinel (SIEM) for continuous diagnostics, mitigation, alerting, and audit trails.
DevOps Integration: Operate within Azure DevOps to manage epics, features, and stories while maintaining CI/CD pipelines and software scanning.
Compliance & Data Security: Maintain FISMA and FedRAMP compliance for government information systems while managing encryption and securing data at rest and in transit.
Cross-Collaboration: Actively participate in team cross-training and collaboration to ensure redundant coverage across all cloud disciplines.
qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of "heads-down" engineering experience specifically in cloud environments.
Technical Background: 5+ years of security-related experience in a commercial or government Azure environment, including experience with Windows and Linux security domains.
Cloud Expertise: Strong preference for Azure experience, particularly within GCC High or GoCloud environments. Experience with AWS or Google Cloud is acceptable if technical concepts are transferable.
Tooling Proficiency: * Deep knowledge of Entra ID, Lighthouse, and Key Vault.
Direct experience with Microsoft Defender XDR and Sentinel.
Proficiency in Azure DevOps and Agile methodologies.
Experience with third-party tools like CrowdStrike Falcon is highly desirable.
Certifications: At least 1-2 cloud-specific certifications are required (e.g., Azure Security Engineer, AZ-900, CISSP, CCSP, or CCSK).
Federal Requirements: Must be able to clear a federal background check (7-year lookback); candidates must not have significant credit issues, active collections, or legal indictments.
