The Clinical Informatics Specialist facilitates and supports the integration of people, processes, clinical information, and technology across inpatient and ambulatory settings. This role promotes the optimal, efficient, and effective use of clinical information systems to enhance patient care, safety, user satisfaction, clinical productivity, and quality outcomes.

responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between clinicians, operational teams, and IT to optimize clinical information systems and workflows
- Lead basic to moderately complex projects, including planning, execution, and evaluation
- Conduct analysis of clinical and organizational needs and recommend solutions, tools, and process improvements
- Collaborate with clinicians to assess current and future technology needs and align workflows with integrated systems
- Map current business processes and recommend improvements to enhance system efficiency and usability
- Make recommendations to leadership regarding new processes, system enhancements, and service improvements
- Establish daily priorities for assigned workgroups and provide guidance on non-routine or escalated issues
- Participate in the development and implementation of organizational policies related to clinical information management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and information system standards
- Develop and deliver training materials to support end-user adoption and effective use of clinical technologies
- Lead and facilitate workgroups focused on system design, workflow optimization, and implementation strategies
- Recruit and collaborate with clinicians for design sessions, validation, and user acceptance testing
- Prepare and communicate project updates, reports, and recommendations to leadership
- Create test scenarios, test scripts, and lead user acceptance testing activities
- Resolve complex or sensitive project-related issues and manage resources to meet strategic goals
- Provide subject-matter expertise in clinical workflows, policies, and healthcare processes
- Identify and drive continuous process improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), including data navigation and interpretation
- Hands-on experience with Epic EHR systems
- Knowledge of clinical workflows in both ambulatory and acute care settings
- Understanding of healthcare data standards and code sets, including:
o SNOMED CT
o LOINC
o ICD-9/10
o CPT/HCPCS
o RxNorm
o CVX
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Epic Signal and Gold Star reporting tools
- Clinical background or hands-on clinical experience
- Epic certifications and/or build/analyst experience strongly preferred
- Experience in clinical informatics, healthcare IT, or related field
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Clinical Informatics, Healthcare, Information Technology, or related field
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
