Randstad is currently seeking a Tax Supervisor for a company that operates across 30 states. This role is designed for a high-performing tax professional who can navigate varied tax codes. You will assist with supervising the day-to-day tax operations, ensuring that all filings are accurate and that internal strategies align with current legislative changes. This is a pivotal role within a tax department, you will ensure compliance with a diverse array of state and local tax laws while identifying opportunities for tax optimization and process improvement.

responsibilities:
- Assist with the end-to-end preparation and review of Federal and multi-state corporate income tax returns, managing all extensions, estimated payments, and jurisdictional filings.
- Execute Federal and State motor fuel and excise tax filings, ensuring precise reconciliation of fuel movements, inventory, and liabilities across the terminal network.
- Manage the full lifecycle of sales and use tax for retail and merchandise transactions, including nexus monitoring, jurisdictional registrations, and ensuring tax integrity at the point of sale.
- Direct property tax renditions for owned and leased retail sites, coordinating with local assessors on valuation reviews and appeals to optimize the company's real property tax burden.
- Support quarterly and annual income tax provisions and ASC 740 documentation, maintaining rigorous tax account reconciliations and general ledger integrity.
- Act as a key point of contact for Federal, State, and local tax audits, preparing technical responses to inquiries and managing all formal correspondence with taxing authorities.
- Collaborate with internal departments/teams to ensure accurate tax calculations on product movements and to provide guidance on the tax implications of fuel distribution.
- Conduct specialized research on evolving tax laws affecting alternative fuels and retail operations, while driving process improvements to automate and enhance compliance workflows.
qualifications:
- 5+ years of corporate tax experience or public accounting experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's in Taxation is a plus).
- CPA license or actively pursing a CPA.
- Proficiency in tax software and advanced Excel skills.
- A desire to lead, mentor, and manage a team as the department expands.
