This role is responsible for supporting the financial health and growth of the organization by planning, organizing and directing all activities and staff related to the safeguarding and management of the fiscal resources of the organization and is responsible for operations. location: Atlanta, Georgia job type: Permanent salary: $109,000 - 120,000 per year work hours: 8 to 5 education: Bachelor's degree experience: 5 Years responsibilities: Manages and directs the activities of assigned staff; coordinates, prioritizes and assigns tasks and projects; tracks and reviews work progress and activities; directs the recruitment and selection of staff; undertakes disciplinary action as required; conducts performance evaluations.Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the department; prepares and administers the department's budget.Confers with the President and executive leadership on matters related to the organization's financial operations and resources; supports finance committee, audit committee and investment committee activities.Analyzes industry trends and monitors and reports on organization's financial health.Provides leadership on matters of strategic planning, policy development and the implementation of long- and short-term initiatives.Oversees and manages the grant accounting activities.Oversees and manages the development of the organization's annual budget, reviews budget performance and requests for capital expenditures.Develops investment guidelines/goals and reviews investment performance for compliance; coordinates efforts with investment manager and approves investment authorizations and forecasting of future cash requirements.Develops, implements and manages policies on accounting, staff and non-staff reimbursements, auditing, financial and budgeting activities.Manages payroll operations, filing and payment of related taxes and remittance of retirement program premiums.Oversees and directs annual audits and preparation of IRS 990 and DOL 5500 filings.Oversees monthly/annual financial close and balance sheet reconciliations; serves as system administrator for accounting, payroll and human resources software applications.Manages processing of cash receipts and disbursements; reviews office procedures and accounting duties to ensure appropriate internal controls.Consults with leaders and managers on financial, accounting and facilities management operations, policies and processes; investigates and provides consultation to resolve identified issues.Performs project management functions related to departmental responsibilities/services; identifies deficiencies and service improvements; develops, implements and monitors controls and changes.Directs the conduct of analytical studies; develops and reviews reports of findings, alternatives and recommendations.Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team.Represents the organization with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public. qualifications: What does it take to be a Director of Finance and Facilities? Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field; AND at least five (5+) years of professional accounting and financial operations experience at a management level; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience in the principles and practices of employee supervision, including selection, work planning, organization, performance review and evaluation, and employee training and discipline.State, and federal laws, statutes, ordinances related to financial and accounting programs and activities.Generally accepted accounting principles as prescribed by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, including methods of financial reporting and financial statement preparation.Experience managing fund accounting including multiple revenue streams.Administrative principles and practices, including goal setting, program development, implementation and evaluation.Developing effective work teams and motivating individuals to meet goals and objectives and provide customer services in the most cost effective and efficient manner.Principles and practices of financial auditing; record management principles and practices.Budgeting and Accounting software applications related to the work.Techniques for interacting with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, in person and over the telephone.Planning, organizing, supervising, reviewing and evaluating the work of others. Training others in policies and procedures related to the work.Planning, organizing and administering a comprehensive financial management and reporting program.Overseeing and coordinating the conduct of comprehensive financial audits.Developing and implementing goals, objectives, procedures and work standards.Interpreting, applying and explaining complex federal, state and local laws related to the areas of responsibility.Preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.Using tact, discretion and prudence in interacting with those contacted in the course of the work.Confident making effective oral presentations to large and small groups.
