Let's Talk!! The Aerospace Tooling Technician plays a vital role in maintaining and fabricating precision tooling used in hot and cold forging operations. This position is responsible for ensuring tooling integrity, dimensional accuracy, and long-term performance. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with manual and CNC machining, knowledge of metallurgy, and a keen eye for detail in a high-precision manufacturing environment.salary: $50,000 - $70,000 per yearshift: Firstwork hours: 7 AM - 4 PMeducation: High SchoolResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities: Tooling Maintenance & Repair Inspect, clean, and maintain forging dies, punches, trim dies, and inserts Conduct preventive maintenance to extend tool life and performance Diagnose wear or damage; perform repairs via grinding, polishing, or resurfacing Identify root causes of tooling failure and recommend corrective actions Tooling Fabrication & Modification Fabricate new tooling from blueprints, CAD models, or sketches using manual and CNC machinery Modify tooling to meet updated specs or resolve production inefficiencies Select appropriate tool steels and other materials based on forging and performance needs Quality Control & Inspection Measure tooling using micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and other metrology tools Conduct visual inspections for wear, cracks, and defects Accurately document tooling conditions, changes, and repairs Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Work closely with forging operators, engineers, and production staff to improve tooling performance Provide feedback for tooling design enhancements and material selection Support root cause analysis and implement process improvements Adhere to safety standards and maintain an organized work environment Proficient with manual machines: lathes, mills, grinders (surface and cylindrical) Experience with CNC machining and G-code programming is highly desirable knowledge of metallurgy, heat treatment, and tool steel behavior The essential functions of this role include:wearing steel toe shoesmanual lifting up to 50lbsSkillsfabricating precision toolinghot and cold forgingdimensional accuracyCNC machiningManual Machiningmetallurgyhigh-precision manufacturingTooling MaintenanceDiagnosing Tooling MachineG-code programmingGDT drawingsblueprints QualificationsYears of experience: 3 yearsExperience level: ExperiencedRandstad is a world leader in matching great people with great companies.
