Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our meat packing facility. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of equipment to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production in a USDA-regulated environment. Key Responsibilities: Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on meat processing and packaging equipment including grinders, blenders, formers, conveyors, and vacuum packaging systems. Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and minor electrical systems. Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance tasks, repairs, and parts usage in compliance with company and union standards. Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted safely, and facilities are in accordance with OSHA, USDA, and company policies. Support production uptime by collaborating with operations and sanitation teams, particularly during shift changes and equipment changeovers. Participate in installation and commissioning of new equipment as needed. Adhere to GMPs, Lockout/Tagout, and all plant safety procedures. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training preferred. Minimum 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, ideally in food or meat processing. Working knowledge of mechanical components, pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems. Experience with USDA-inspected production environments is a plus. Ability to work in cold, wet, and fast-paced environments and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to read schematics, equipment manuals, and blueprints.
