job summary: A Lead Designer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Houston, TX area. This is a Lead Designer role requiring 10-17 years of experience to direct complex network designs, oversee data center development, and mentor staff while ensuring technical and regulatory compliance. location: Houston, Texas job type: Contract salary: $67.66 - 87.83 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Plan and execute independent telecommunications engineering tasks using specialized techniques and criteria for medium-sized global projects.Lead the design, modification, and evaluation of ICT components following established engineering department procedures and standards.Develop conceptual designs for telecommunications projects with unique or highly specialized infrastructure requirements.Prepare project design estimates, staffing plans, and execution schedules to ensure timely delivery.Review and approve technical drawings, complex calculations, and supplier bid summaries.Coordinate directly with client representatives to facilitate technical discussions and obtain design approvals.Interpret and apply specialized regulations, codes, and performance data to ensure full system compliance.Design and develop ICT network topologies, Data Center layouts, and horizontal distribution systems.Integrate ERRCS, DAS, and security systems within the broader ICT-telecommunication framework.Lead special studies into emerging engineering methods, materials, and technologies.Mentor and provide on-the-job training to junior engineering personnel to support their professional development.Utilize industry-standard software including CAD, Revit, and Navisworks to produce high-quality design deliverables. Skills: RCDD certification preferred.Knowledge of systems, equipment, applications of design methods, materials, and computers for preparation of analyses and development of project design deliverables within the ICT-Telecommunication discipline.Knowledge and understanding of technical and cost issues related to selection of design features within the ICT-Telecommunication discipline.Knowledge of developing ICT-Telecommunications Network Topology, DAS, Data Center development, OSI Model, rack development and Horizontal distribution as it relates to ICT-Telecommunications.Knowledge in use of industry standard software (CAD, REVIT, Navisworks, Microsoft Suites) is desirable.Knowledge of ERRCS/DAS and Security systems and their integration with ICT-Telecommunication is desirable.
