Join a Leading Staff Counsel Team at The Hanover Insurance Group The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Insurance Defense Attorney to join our growing Staff Counsel team in Texas. This role will be based in either Houston or Dallas, with a flexible hybrid schedule (2–3 days/week in office). What You’ll Do: Manage a caseload of moderate complexity insurance defense matters from inception to resolution (including settlement, dismissal, or trial). Represent clients at mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and court appearances. Provide strategic legal guidance to internal claims teams and clients. Conduct legal research, draft motions, and attend pre-trial and trial proceedings as needed. Work closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and claims professionals. Mentor and support the development of junior attorneys. What You’ll Bring: Active license to practice law in Texas 3+ years of insurance defense or civil litigation experience; jury trial experience strongly preferred. strong command of litigation procedures and legal research tools (Lexis, Westlaw). Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating within a legal team.
