As a Medication Refill Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in enhancing patient care by coordinating with providers and local pharmacies to manage the technical aspects of medication refills. This high-volume position demands meticulous attention to detail and involves working closely with clinic physician leadership protocols, reporting directly to clinic nursing leadership. Essential Functions: Patient Liaison: Serve as a liaison between the pharmacy and clinic providers. Receive and process medication refill requests through various channels (fax, phone, electronic format). Protocol Adherence: Work collaboratively with physicians to ensure refill protocols are in place and follow clinic protocols. Research patient information to assist care providers. Insurance Coordination: Correspond with insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations for medications. Quality Work Environment: Communicate promptly and courteously with relevant personnel regarding medication distribution. Maintain patient confidentiality. Handle incoming phone calls professionally and redirect them as necessary. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Typing speed of 35+ WPM. Problem-Solving: Skill in researching and finding resolutions to problems. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work with patients, nurses, and doctors in a courteous and friendly manner. Software Proficiency: Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to learn DWP, Sequoia, and other required programs. Basic Pharmacology: Understanding of basic pharmacology. Flexibility: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Time Management: Efficiently process responses, ensuring timely completion of tasks. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (1-hour lunch break) Hybrid Schedule: Initially on-site training with a transition to remote work. Certifications/Degree Requirements: Texas Pharmacy Technician or LVN certifications must be in good standing.
